Today:

3:00: Math and math learning in Israel (personal impressions); a panel discussion with students and professors, led by Michael Ben-Or – West Building Lecture Hall [note change of location for today only]

 

Thursday:

3:00 The Classroom Stage, Blaga Pauley, California State University at San Bernardino. Blaga Pauley, opera singer and mathematics instructor, will speak on teaching as performance.

 

Barbecue Dinner Thursday night: The closing barbecue dinner will be held Thursday night at 6:00 in the Birch Garden (or the Dining Hall, in case of rain). Participants are welcome to bring their families. Beer and wine will be available.

 

Pizza Party Friday night. The last pizza party will be held Friday night. This is a BYOB event. Stay tuned for details.

 

Departure arrangements will be final by Wednesday. All departure arrangements will be finalized with the Airporter by Wednesday. Please be sure to check the Message Board and initial your reservations. If you are in need of a reservation, please see Kirstie no later than today (Tuesday) at 5:00. Also -- remember to return your IAS access card, your IAS apartment key (if applicable) and your exit survey when you leave. On Saturday, there will be a check-out table staffed in the Fuld Hall Common Room and a place for you to return your access cards at the AmeriSuites front desk.

 

Exit surveys! Along with the background questionnaire, the exit surveys are extremely important to our assessment process. Before you leave PCMI, please take a moment to fill one out and give us your opinion on the program – the forms are available on the table near the PCMI Message Board (upper level of the Dining Hall). We very much appreciate your help!

 

The Computer Lab will close Friday evening.

 

PCMI T-Shirts and tote bags are for sale in the PCMI office. T-shirts come in either white or gray, and are $10.00 each. Sizes are S, M, L, XL, and XXL – sizes S and XXL are limited. The tote bags are made of canvas duck, and are $5.00 each. Both T-shirts and tote bags are available in the PCMI office during regular office hours. They will occasionally be sold at lunch time, next to the PCMI message board, and at the pizza parties on July 28 and August 4. Quantities of some items are limited. Note: cash and check only.

 

The PCMI Office is located at 95 Morse Lane, in the housing complex. This is adjacent to the laundry room and is entered through the door underneath the carport. Office hours are 8:15-5:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and 8:15-1:00 on Wednesdays. Phone: 8140 from any house phone or 734-8140 from the outside.

 

Coffee and Tea are available daily in the Coffee Lounge (mid-level of the Dining Hall) from 9:30-11:30 a.m. There are water fountains in all buildings on the campus.

 

We ask that no beverages or food be taken into the computer lab or any of the lecture halls or meeting rooms. Thank you!
