Mathematics, The Mentoring Program for Women in Mathematics is sponsored by the Institute for Advanced Study and is funded in part by the RGK Foundation, the Merrill Lynch Co., Inc. Foundation and Mr. William Schreyer. This program is designed to bring women students in contact with postdoctoral scholars and professional mathematicians and to encourage women to further their mathematics education. The program consists of lectures, seminars, working problem groups, and mentoring and networking sessions. Students and mentors take part in the life of the Institute for Advanced Study and have the opportunity to meet and converse with mathematicians in residence at the Institute.
The Fuld Hall Common Room is open throughout the day and night. Scheduled service runs Monday through Friday, with an abbreviated schedule on Saturdays. The van also makes scheduled stops at the Princeton Shopping Center where a grocery store, a drug store, restaurants, a book store and other specialty shops are located. A schedule may be found in the Mail Information Center and the Reception desk in Fuld Hall. This is a twist on the usual virtual theme in that your home pages will actually be done as hard copy posters on poster paper or other material, rather than as electronic pages. We ask that each participant prepare a two- to four-page poster for display. The poster should contain a photograph, vita information, research and/or project involvement, hobbies, interests, school, and any other information you would like to share with the group. We appreciate your involvement in this activity and ask that you bring your home page to the first dinner on Tuesday, May 15. Basic supplies will be available at that time should you need to finish your poster after traveling. Generally the posters are left on display for the first few days of the Womens Program, and you may take them home with you when you leave. For ease of traveling, we recommend that you use smaller size poster paper. We ask everyone to undertake some volunteer tasks during the Womens Program. A questionnaire is provided so that you can let us know your preferences if you haven't already done so, you can access it by clicking on the link on this section heading. The questionnaire also contains some sections about topic ideas and seminar participation. Staff:
