Applicants for PiTP 2017 should make sure they have the proper background to benefit from the program. There are many books (available in science libraries) that cover important areas of particle phenomenology, althought it might be hard to find a single book that covers all the topics that will be discussed at PiTP 2017.
An example of possible textbooks is Paul Langacker's "The Standard Model and Beyond," which also provides a comprehensive list of references to other sources.
On LHC physics, one could look at Jason Nielsen's short set of lectures or at Tilman Plehn's longer set, now adapted into a textbook.
