Morals and Moralities
Since its beginning with the sociology of Durkheim and the anthropology of Westermarck, the social sciences have been concerned with the formation and the implementation of values and norms. In recent decades a renewed interest in moral issues has developed through the study of the foundations of morals, the diversity of moralities, the subjectivation of ethics, and the transformation of moral economies. The bibliography offers an insight into these various anthropologies of morals.
Morals and Justice
The justice system is an object for legal theorists. However, since the mid-twentieth century, theoretical approaches and empirical studies have highlighted the relationships between law and society, and more specifically, the role emotions and values play in the experiences of courts and the practices of adjudication. The bibliography offers a selection of ethnographic works addressing these issues.
